Preparing for your injectables appointment – Botox, Dysport, Xeomin
DO’s
- Wash your skin thoroughly with a gentle cleanser
- Drink plenty of water, it’s ideal to be well hydrated for your treatment
- Exercise BEFORE your appointment, as you shouldn’t workout for at least 24 hours after your treatment
DONT’s
- Don’t Apply makeup prior to your appointment
- Don’t drink alcoholic at least three days before your appointment
- Don’t take blood thinning or vasodilating medications or supplements during the week before your appointment.
Examples of medications that should be avoided include but are not limited to:- Aspirin (even small doses like 81mg!)
- Excedrin
- Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin)
- Naproxen (Aleve)
- Celecoxib (Celebrex)
- Fish/krill oil/Omega 3’s
- Glucosamine
- Vitamin E
- Garlic
- Ginkgo
- Ginseng
- St. John’s Wart
Preparing for your filler appointment – Juvéderm, Restylane, Radiesse
DO’s
- Wash your skin thoroughly with a gentle cleanser
- Exercise BEFORE your appointment, as you shouldn’t workout for at least 24 hours after your treatment
- Apply a cold compress for 5 to 15 minutes before your appointment to constrict the blood vessels
- Tell your nurse injector if you have ever experienced a cold sore on or around your lips, an anti-viral medication may be prescribed to avoid an outbreak.
- Consider taking Arnica Montana 12X 2-3 days before treatment. Arnica is a dietary supplement that can reduce bleeding and inflammation.
- Eat 1 cup of pineapple within 3 days of your appointment. Enzymes contained in the fruit can reduce inflammation and bruising.
DONT’s
- Don’t Apply makeup prior to your appointment
- Don’t drink caffeinated or alcoholic beverages at least three days before and after your appointment
- Don’t schedule dental procedures including cleanings 2 weeks before and after injections.
- Don’t wax, tweeze, bleach, or use hair removal products on the treatment area for at least two days before the treatment.
- Don’t use anti-aging skincare products containing Tretinoin (Retin-A, Steivaa), Retinol, Retinoid, Glycolic Acid, or other exfoliating agents within 3 days of your appointment
- Don’t take blood thinning or vasodilating medications or supplements during the week before your appointment.

- Bring a book or activity you can enjoy during the treatment
- Moisturize and baby your skin in the weeks before your treatment
- Arrive wearing loose fitting and comfortable clothes
- Cover up and avoid sun exposure and tanning the skin in and around your treatment area in the week before your appointment
- Eat a light meal before your appointment

- Use sunscreen and avoid the sun for several days before your appointment
- Gently wash your skin before your appointment with a non-exfoliating cleanser
DONT’s
- Don’t use exfoliating products for one week before your treatment
- Don’t use AHAs, Retinols, Vitamin A, or topical acne medication for one week before your treatmen
